The Pop up Concert Series project was launched in 2011 following the Canterbury earthquakes to provide a vehicle for building alternative concert platforms that would support local concert musicians / performance artist and their communities following the loss of performance venues and theatres.
Supported by Creative New Zealand CCS Grants, local arts and music related businesses and organisations, coupled with enthusiasm from leading local independent musicians, performance artists, and educators, the wheels started spinning and the show was on the road.
Since then we have produced over 30 Pop up events and cabarets throughout Canterbury and the South island. The community spirit and warmth generated from the pop up events is a poignant reminder of the value of music in our lives. Music offers a nourishment that strengthens the spirit, a universal soul food that draws us together in a life giving healing connection that is soothing, inspiring, exciting, and entertaining.
Miller Bell Music produces pop up events throughout the year from local community events through to full theatrical acoustic cabaret style shows for presentation locally and nationally. We welcome enquiries to work collaboratively and creatively with other artists and arts and music communities.
